cdh-8 encodes a cadherin that may be nematode specific; CDH-8 is predicted to function as a membrane protein that plays a role in cell adhesion and/or morphogenesis, but as loss of cdh-8 activity via mutation or large-scale RNAi experiments results in no obvious abnormalities, the precise role of cdh-8 in C. elegans development and/or behavior is not yet known.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
