mul-1 encodes a mucin-like protein containing a signal sequence and several ShK toxin domains; expression and phenotypic analyses suggest that mul-1 plays a role in response to stressors such as ionizing radiation, heavy metals, and bacterial infection; induction of mul-1 in response to ionizing radiation requires the ELT-2 GATA transcription factor and the p38 MAPK signaling pathway.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
