plc-2 encodes one of five C. elegans phospholipase C (PLC) isozymes; the amino acid sequence of PLC-2 is most closely related to members of the PLC-beta group, but is divergent and does not include an extended C terminus typical of other PLC-betas.
Predicted to enable phosphatidylinositol phospholipase C activity. Predicted to be involved in phosphatidylinositol-mediated signaling and release of sequestered calcium ion into cytosol.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
