ins-19 encodes an insulin-like peptide of the insulin superfamily of proteins (OMIM:176730, 147440); INS-19 is one of 38 insulin-like peptides in C. elegans, and although overexpression with INS-31 can result in low levels of larval lethality, the precise role of INS-19 in C. elegans development is not yet clear; INS-19/31 overexpression does not enhance dauer arrest in either a wild-type or daf-2 mutant background.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
