[C.elegansII] pk1 : Tc1 insertion. Also excision derivative, no detectable phenotype. Cloned: 48% identity to GPA-3; gpa-1:lacZ expressed in some amphid and phasmid neurons, spicular neurons, some anterior pharyngeal cells. [Lochrie et al. 1991; PS; NL]
gpa-1 encodes a member of the G protein alpha subunit family of heterotrimeric GTPases that is involved in chemotaxis to water-soluble odorants; it is expressed in sensory neurons and in the spicule and phasmid neurons of the male tail.
Predicted to enable G protein-coupled receptor binding activity; G-protein beta/gamma-subunit complex binding activity; and GTPase activity. Predicted to be involved in adenylate cyclase-modulating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway. Predicted to be part of heterotrimeric G-protein complex. Expressed in several structures, including SPD; chemosensory neurons; head mesodermal cell; pharyngeal neurons; and postcloacal sensillum.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
