ceh-86 encodes a homeodomain-containing protein with one homeodomain; it lies on chromosome II near a repetitive region where several other divergent homeobox genes are found; ceh-86(RNAi) performed in the background of C. elegans retinoblastoma pathway mutants results in a number of phenotypes that suggest ceh-86 plays a role in the normal development and/or survival of the animal; a ceh-86::gfp promoter fusion is expressed in the adult intestine.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
