uso-1 encodes the C. elegans ortholog of the Uso1/p115 vesicle tethering protein that in yeast has been shown to function in endoplasmic reticulum-to-Golgi transport; RNAi screens indicate that uso-1 activity is required for normal fat content and distal tip cell migration.
Predicted to be involved in intracellular protein transport; membrane fusion; and vesicle-mediated transport. Predicted to be located in ER to Golgi transport vesicle membrane; Golgi stack; and endoplasmic reticulum. Is an ortholog of human USO1 (USO1 vesicle transport factor).
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
