rrn-3.1 (F31C3.9) encodes a 26s/28s ribosomal RNA (rRNA), a non-coding RNA component of the large ribosomal subunit and synthesised by RNA polymerase I; This is cleaved from a 45S precursor transcribed by RNA polymerase I; As this forms a major component of the ribosome, it is essential for all protein synthesis in the cell.
Enriched in excretory cell; germ line; intestine; and neurons based on single-cell RNA-seq studies. Is affected by several genes including daf-16; npr-1; and aak-2 based on RNA-seq studies. Is affected by six chemicals including rotenone; multi-walled carbon nanotube; and sesamin based on RNA-seq and microarray studies.
rrn-1 was previously used to designate the whole ribosomal DNA tandem array. Due to gene name assignment to each ribosomal RNA subunits within the cluster, the phenotypic descriptions, mapping data and allele information of rrn-1 have been attached to rDNA_cluster, which contains all the rrn loci

Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
