lbp-2 encodes a homolog of the novel fatty acid binding protein, As-p18, found in the parasitic nematode Ascaris suum; As-p18 is a member of a family of small intracellular fatty acid binding proteins (iFABPs); the expression pattern of lpb-2 is consistent with it being secreted into the perienteric fluid where it may play a role in lipid transport beween the intestine and body wall; a lbp-2 promoter::gfp fusion reporter is restricted to body wall muscle cells abutting the pseudocoelom.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
