Remark | [981116 jd] : gene structure altered after email from Gert Janson (gjans@nik.nl)
[110720 gw3] There is evidence from SwissProt and human proteins for this isoform. Added a new intron in the fourth exon based on EST data. | Accession_evidence | NDB | FR830797
Curator_confirmed | WBPerson4025
[141009 gw3] Converted this from a CDS isoform to a non-coding transcript isoform because there is no evidence that the long sixth exon is spliced correctly to make a CDS. | Curator_confirmed | WBPerson4025

[150713 gw3] Discussed the structure of this gene with Gert Jansen. He says: "gpa-9 is indeed pretty odd. Cuppen et al (2003, Comp Funct Genom 2003; 4: 479-491) could not clone the 5' end of the cDNA. We have no real data on gpa-9 structure. There is some functional data on gpa-9, but not much and I agree that this does not really prove it functions as a G alpha subunit. The best we have is that a GFP fusion that fuses gpa-9 in frame at +44 to GFP shows GFP in a number of cells. This construct was generated using primers: taagatctACTTAACCTCCACCTGTTTCT atactgcagCTCGGGAACTTCTGTGATTCA And there is a paper (referred to in Wormbase) that shows that the knock out (without rescue) and overexpression of gpa-9 (genomic constructs driven by daf-28 promoter or endogenous gpa-9 promoter) affect ageing. | Person_evidence | WBPerson291
