ftt-2 encodes a 14-3-3 protein; FTT-2 is required for regulating the localization of the product of YAP-1, a Yes-associated protein (Yap) homolog, between the cytoplasm and the nucleus.
Enables DNA-binding transcription factor binding activity. Involved in cytoplasmic sequestering of protein; dauer larval development; and negative regulation of protein import into nucleus. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Expressed in several structures, including C; E; Psub3; gonad; and intestine. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including carcinoma (multiple); ovarian cancer; and urinary bladder cancer. Is an ortholog of human YWHAB (tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monooxygenase activation protein beta) and YWHAZ (tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monooxygenase activation protein zeta).
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
