ddo-2 encodes a D-aspartate oxidase (DASPO), paralogous to DDO-1 and DDO-3; recombinant DDO-2 protein has DASPO acvitity on acidic D-amino acid substrates (e.g., D-aspartate, D-glutamate, or N-methyl-D-aspartate/NMDA), with highest catalytic efficiency on D-aspartate or D-glutamate; ddo-2 is required for viability in mass RNAi assays.
Enables D-aspartate oxidase activity and D-glutamate oxidase activity. Involved in aspartate catabolic process and obsolete oxidation-reduction process. Predicted to be located in cytoplasm. Expressed in body wall musculature; intestinal cell; and pharyngeal muscle cell.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
