Remarkgus-1 mutations were originally identified in a screen using a histochemical assay, and from that screen it was predicted that gus-1 is the structural locus for beta-glucuronidase. Y105E8B.9 encodes the only C. elegans beta-glucuronidase and it maps physically to the same region that gus-1 maps genetically. However, the mutant allele is not sequenced to give a direct proof that Y105E8B.9 is in fact gus-1.Person_evidenceWBPerson1843
