Subcellular_localizationDuring morphogenesis, ZOO-1 becomes enriched at the borders of epidermal cells; elongating embryos exhibit the strongest junctional accumulation. ZOO-1 is also expressed in myoblasts and persists in mature muscle cells. In contrast, zoo-1::gfp driven by an epithelial promoter shows no muscle-associated signal; thus muscle-associated ZOO-1 signal is due to expression specifically in muscle.
