Subcellular_localization | SIR-2.1::GFP is primarily localized in the nucleus.
Type | Reporter_gene | |||
Pattern | SIR-2.1::GFP is primarily localized in the nucleus and expression is in most if not all neurons in the head and tail from embryo to adult. SIR-2.1::GFP is seen in many pharyngeal cells, where there is no expression of DAF-16::GFP. SIR-2.1::GFP is also expressed in the hypodermis and first seen at the three-fold stage of embryogenesis, diminished by late L3, and low or off in young adults. SIR-2.1::GFP expression was not observed in the intestine and germ line.
Remark | Several integrated transgenic lines were examined under a fluorescent microscope and showed similar patterns of expression. This SIR-2.1::GFP is functional as it rescues the unc-13(s69); sir-2.1(ok434) strain for life span.
