Subcellular_localizationIn wild-type worms, YFP::actin 'halos' could clearly be observed around early apoptotic corpses. Additionally, YFP::actin incorporated into filamentous, phalloidin-stained structures, suggesting that the fusion is functional.

RemarkNo GO_term assigned.
gla-1(op234) mutant worms, which have increased cell death in the hermaphrodite germ line, showed increased numbers of both halos and apoptotic cells. In contrast, no halos were observed in the gonads of worms mutant for the ced-3 caspase homologue in which apoptosis is blocked, suggesting that actin halos specifically surround apoptotic germ cells.
