PatternIn three independent lines, GFP expression was observed in the developing somatic gonad and in a subset of neurons. In adults, ERI-1 was expressed in neurons and gonadal expression was restricted to the spermatheca. The expression and the cytoplasmic localization of the eri-1::GFP fusion was not markedly altered by exposure to dsRNA.
RemarkFusion of GFP to the predicted promoter of eri-1 (termed eri-1P::GFP), which was expected to reveal the pattern of expression of both eri-1a and eri-1b, showed a pattern of expression similar to that of eri-1b::GFP. This fusion protein containing only the first five residues of ERI-1 was not localized preferentially to the cytoplasm. Using this construct, low ubiquitous expression was also observed throughout the worm.
