PatternNAS-7::GFP staining was observed only in the head of adult hermaphrodites, but not within pharynx cells. The expressing cells are located outside of the pharynx, around the metacarpus and the terminal bulb, and could include neurons, cells of the excretory system or gland cells of still unknown functions. Reporter gene expression also became detectable in the embryo before hatching.
