Subcellular_localizationThe timing of SYP-2 localization with chromosomes corresponds well with the timing of assembly and disassembly of the synaptonemal complex. The first few nuclei entering meiotic prophase contain a single bright focus of SYP-2 and are followed by nuclei that contain two or more foci. Later within the transition zone, short stretches of SYP-2 are observed instead of foci. Upon entrance into and throughout the pachytene stage, SYP-2 localizes in a continuous fashion at the interface between paired and aligned homologous chromosomes.
TypeAntibodyRabbit polyclonal antibody against SYP-2. Rabbit a-SYP-2 C-terminal polyclonal antibodies were generated using a peptide antigen corresponding to the final 20 amino acid residues of SYP-2. The a-SYP-2 C-terminal antibody does not detect SYP-2 either on chromosomes in situ or on Westerns in either syp-2(me19) or syp-2(ok307) mutants, indicating that the antibody is specific to SYP-2.
