PatternThe promoter for CE2FT-1 is specifically activated in intestinal cells beginning at the 2-fold embryonic stage embryo. Promoter function was identified through all later developmental stages with a highly restricted GFP expression in the 20 cells of the adult intestine. In these studies, the 20 cells aligned to form the entire intestine were clearly visually identified by transmitted light microscopy compared with the fluorescent images. There was a surprising restriction of CE2FT-1 expression in the intestinal cells, and all cells had equivalent expression levels based on visual observations. Virtually no GFP fluorescence was observable in nonintestinal cells in adult worms.
