Subcellular_localizationOuter cell membranes at the neuronal cell bodies.
TypeAntibodyRabbit polyclonal antibodies were raised against the region common to the long and short forms of GPB-2, and were used to determine the localization of GPB-2 in wild-type animals.
PatternGPB-2 antibody staining observed in most or all neurons, concentrated in neural processes where most chemical synapses occur. Staining was observed in the nerve ring and ventral nerve cord, as well as in the dorsal nerve cord. This staining was specific for GPB-2, as no neural staining was observed in gpb-2 mutant animals. GPB-2-specific staining was also observed in a large number of neural cell bodies located on either side of the nerve ring. The staining in these cells appeared concentrated at the outer cell membranes. GPB-2-specific staining was also observed in wild-type animals on the outer membranes of body wall muscles.
