The R10A10.2 gene encodes an ortholog of the mammalian zinc RING finger protein SAG, which protects cells from apoptosis induced by redox agents and is a component of ubiquitin-ligase (E3) complexes; mammalian SAG binds to the yeast Cul1 protein, complements the lethality of a mutation in yeast Sag, and (when bound to yeast Cul1) has ubiquitin ligase activity and promotes poly-ubiquitination of E2/Cdc34.
Predicted to enable cullin family protein binding activity and ubiquitin protein ligase activity. Predicted to be involved in protein ubiquitination and ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process. Predicted to be located in nucleus. Predicted to be part of Cul5-RING ubiquitin ligase complex. Is an ortholog of human RNF7 (ring finger protein 7).
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
