nrde-1 encodes a novel protein conserved amongst nematodes; NRDE-1 activity is required, along with that of NRDE-2, NRDE-3, and NRDE-4, for regulation of gene expression via a nuclear RNAi pathway that inhibits RNA polymerase II elongation and deposits histone H3K9 methylation on genomic regions targeted by RNAi; an NRDE-1:GFP fusion protein localizes to the nucleus.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
