PatternExpression of cwn-2 Wnt ligand decreases during aging. The cwn-2/Wnt expression was observed all along the anterior-posterior body axis of the animal in body-wall muscles. The authors did not detect any expression in ventral cord motor neurons or intestinal cells as was previously observed during worm development (Gleason et al. 2006). By qPCR the authors found that total expression levels for both Wnt ligands significantly increased between day 2 and 5 of adulthood. In addition, expression of mom-2/Wnt is highly increased in posterior intestinal cells, but remains unchanged or may be even decreased in other tissues, where the authors failed to detect any expression using their transcriptional reporters.
