Subcellular_localizationDuring the first embryonic cleavage division in C. elegans, MDF-2 localized around the DNA, in the spindle region, and at the centrosomes, in a cell-cycle-dependent manner. As embryogenesis progressed and cell number increased, the intensity of the MDF-2 signals decreased. About 300 min after fertilization, strong MDF-2 staining appeared in the nuclei of gut-cell precursors in embryos. Strong staining was observed in these cells throughout the remainder of embryonic development, and during early larval stages. In both hermaphrodites and males, MDF-2 was detected in the nuclear matrix of germ cells during premeiotic proliferation and meiotic prophase. During both meiosis I and II, MDF-2 was present in the spindle pole region.
TypeAntibodyRabbit polyclonal antibody to MDF-2 recombinant protein.
Patternexpressed in embryo, early larva stage and adult male and hermaphrodites in the germ cells.
