WBPicture0000007983DescriptionFigure 5. MES-2 distribution in the adult germline. (A) Affinity-purified rabbit anti-MES-2 antibody and preimmune serum from the rabbit were used to stain C. elegans embryo homogenate on a western blot. (B,C) Extruded gonads were stained with affinity-purified anti-MES-2 antibody, and DAPI to visualize DNA. The distal region of the gonad, where germ nuclei divide mitotically and enter meiosis, is to the left, and oocytes are on the right (indicated by arrowheads in A). (B) MES-2 staining in the gonad of a wild-type adult hermaphrodite. MES-2 is localized in all germ nuclei. Sperm do not stain (not shown). (C) MES-2 staining is not detectable in the gonads of mes-2(bn76) adult hermaphrodites. This image is overexposed to demonstrate the lack of detectable nuclear staining. Size bar, 50 µm.
