WBPicture0000006529 | Description | b-galactosidase expression in the excretory cell and lateral nuclei of the hypodermis adjacent to the anterior and posterior branches of the excretory cell. The b-galactosidase appears to be localized to the channels which run within the lateral canals and the sinus in the cell body with which the channels connect. Initially approximately 20 hypodermal nuclei stained, possibly corresponding to the nuclei of the seam cells which constitute the two bands of the lateral hypodermis in the first larval stage. During development the seam cells give rise to two sets of 65 hypodermal nuclei present in the adult, which could correspond to the total number of staining nuclei in the adult. | |
