| Pattern | Strong GFP expression was seen in all 12 P cells (six of which are precursors of VPCs) in the embryos and L1-stage larvae. Weaker and more variable expression was observed in VPCs at the L2 larval stage. Expression was more readily detected in VPCs and their descendants at the L3 stage. Expression persisted in vulval cells (P5.pP7.p descendants) through the L4 stage becoming weaker in adulthood. Expression faded in the descendants of P3.p, P4.p, and P8.p, presumably in part because they fused with the surrounding syncytium. | ||
