PatternExpression is seen in two components predominantly in young larvae, but also at other larval stages and in adults. The first component consists of diffuse expression throughout the intestine. The second component consists of intense expression in several neuronal cell bodies. Faint processes can be seen between the cell bodies and the buccal cavity indicating these cells to be amphid sensory neurons.
