mtd-1 encodes a novel protein, with an N-terminal extracellular domain and a C-terminal transmembrane domain, that is expressed in touch receptor neurons; loss of mtd-1 function (by either RNAi or a deletion mutation) has no obvious phenotype alone, but specifically enhances touch insensitivity of the temperature-sensitive mec-6(u247).
Involved in positive regulation of detection of mechanical stimulus involved in sensory perception of touch. Located in plasma membrane. Expressed in touch receptor neurons.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
