mir-37 encodes a microRNA, a small non-protein coding RNA that belongs to a large group of microRNAs that include the stRNAs, lin-4 and let-7; the mir-35 genomic cluster of microRNAs consists of seven genes, that are similar in sequence, mir-35-mir-41; this group of microRNAs functions redundantly to control embryonic development and is expressed only during embryogenesis and in young adults with eggs.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
