ldb-1 encodes an Ldb/NLI/Clim member of the nuclear LIM binding protein family that affects coordinated locomotion, vulval development, mechanosensation, and growth of larvae and is required for transcriptional activation of mec-2; can interact with MEC-3 to activate transcription using yeast two-hybrid assays and is expressed in all neurons, vulval cells, gonadal sheath cells, and in some body muscle cells.
Enables DNA-binding transcription factor activity; DNA-binding transcription factor binding activity; and LIM domain binding activity. Involved in several processes, including mechanosensory behavior; positive regulation of vulval development; and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Predicted to be located in nucleus. Predicted to be part of transcription regulator complex. Expressed in several structures, including AIY; body wall musculature; gonad; neurons; and vulval muscle.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
