The protein product of abu-14 is predicted to contain a glutamine/asparagine (Q/N)-rich ('prion') domain; abu-14 is transcriptionally up-regulated during times of cuticle synthesis, such as in late embryogenesis and in the molts; it is localized to the pharyngeal cuticle and is required for the function of the pharyngeal grinder.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
