PatternExpression begins in the embryo at around the 100 cell stage with approximately 20 nuclei staining, and is not seen beyond the 1/2 fold stage embryo. In older embryos staining often appears diffuse and not nuclear localised, possibly perinuclear, and consists of two components. One component consists of a row of cells on the dorsal side of the embryo, possibly hypodermal. The second component consists of a more ventral bean shaped group of cells. All expression fades and becomes quite diffuse as the embryo begins to elongate.
