Disease_model_description | In Alzheimers disease patients, amyloid-beta plaques are found embedded in the extracellular matrix and surrounded by collagens, which might hinder antibodies from targeting the plaques. A transgenic C. elegans strain, LSD2104, expressing fluorescent human A-beta (1-42) acts as an in vivo model for secreted amyloid aggregation in the extracellular matrix. The use of the flavonoid, quercetin (350 microM) in this model cleared the extracellular amyloid plaque burden. | ||
