Using null mutants of both
osm-9(
ky4) and
ocr-2(
ak47), authors reported that loss of either resulted in a modest increase in longevity, however, loss of both
osm-9 and
ocr-2 resulted in a robust extension of lifespan up to 32 percent compared to control animals. Authors found that the increased longevity of the trpv mutants (
osm-9(
ky10);
ocr-2(
ak47) double mutant) was abrogated when
crtc-1 was mutated at the calcineurin dephosphorylation sites S76A, S179A, making it constitutively nuclear. In addition inactivating
tax-6, which extends lifespan in wildtype animals, did not further increase the lifespan of
osm-9(
ky10);
ocr-2(
ak47) double mutant (the double mutant is referred to as the trpv mutants).
