In wild-type animals, BBS-7 proteins always localize prominently at transition zones/basal bodies and clearly undergo bidirectional transport along ciliary axonemes. In contrast, in the
dyf-11 mutant strain, BBS-7 was anchored to transition zones but their signal intensities were significantly reduced compared to wild-type, and no proteins were observed to enter the (truncated) amphid and phasmid cilia.
