"we used
daf-16:gfp worms, which contain a transgenic GFP protein fused to DAF-16, to evaluate how a-SWCNT exposure affects the nuclear translocation of DAF-16 in C. elegans. Worms previously treated with or without a-SWCNTs (500 mg/mL) were starved for 2 h to induce DAF-16 nuclear translocation [44]. Under starvation conditions, DAF-16:GFP became localized to the nucleus (Fig. 6D). As expected, a-SWCNTexposed worms displayed a 1.7-fold decrease in nuclear DAF- 16:GFP fluorescence relative to the untreated controls (Fig. 6E), indicating that a-SWCNT treatment inhibited the nuclear translocation of DAF-16 in worms."
