In contrast to
selt-1.1, both Pselt-1.2::
selt-1.2::gfp and Pselt-1.2::gfp reporters were expressed exclusively in a single pair of bilateral symmetric sensory neurons located in the amphid, the main chemosensory organ of C. elegans. The neuron was identified as AWB by axon morphology, cell body position and by the co-localization with DiI dye. Since the promoter sequence of
selt-1.2 comprises only 0.6 kbp, the authors generated a second transcriptional reporter of
selt-1.2 using 2 kbp upstream of its coding sequence. This additional
selt-1.2 reporter was also expressed in AWB neurons, exclusively.
