cwn-1 was mostly localized to the posterior half of L1 larvae, in a pattern that was already present at the comma stage of embryonic development.
cwn-1 was mainly expressed in posterior body wall muscle cells and in the M cell descendants that give rise to body wall muscle cells and the vulva and uterine muscle cells. In addition, several cells were found to co-express
cwn-1 including the anal depressor muscle, the body wall muscle quadrants VL23 and VR24 and P11/12. Interestingly, it was observed that the two lateral canal associated neurons (CANs) simultaneously induce
cwn-1 expression during late L1, an expression that persists throughout larval development.
