Both
cna-1 and
cnb-1 green fluorescent protein (gfp) reporter transgene expressions were detected at all developmental stages starting from early comma stage embryos to adult stages. Calcineurin also expresses in vulval muscle, body-wall muscle, and in a majority of neuronal cell bodies in the head and tail. Distinct expressions of calcineurin have also been detected in hypodermal seam cells / hypodermal tissue that is required for cuticle formation. Calcineurin also expresses in the male germline, and therefore may have possible roles in germline development. Expr1825 has shown calcineurin to express specifically in sensory neurons and interneurons including muscle cells.
