The CeCRMP/DHP-1 transcript was distributed diffusively in the anterio-dorsoposterior region of embryos at the late gastrulation stage and was retained in the dorsal region at the 2-fold embryo stage.
Expression in touch-sensitive neurons, motor neurons, and interneurons which starts in the 2-fold embryo and disappears by L3. Sporadic expression seen in retrovesicular ganglion at L1. Expressed in ALM, PLM and BDU cells at 2-fold embryo, L1 and L2. In AVM, PVM cells at L1 and L2. Expressed in ventral cord motor neurons VA2-VA12, VB1-VB11, AVF cells, and precursors at L1 and L2.
Expression is seen in the vulval uv1 cells. In addition, weak expression is seen in head nerve cells, nerve cord and anterior body wall muscles in 2 fold embryos through to L1.
Expression begins in 2-fold embryos as points of fluorescence at the anterior region. In larvae and adults, head neuronal, pharyngeal and faint bodywall muscle expression. Pharyngeal neurons express. Occasional posterior intestine expression.
Expression seen only during embryogenesis. Can see 4 cells expressing at the 50 cell stage, and watch further divisions up to 16 cells, after which the pattern becomes complex and is mostly in anterior regions. No expression is seen in 2-fold embryos and later.
After the comma stage in embryos, expression of VHA-6 changed. In 2-fold embryos, VHA-6 was limited to the intestine. Such intestinal expression was also observed in larvae and adults. The C. elegans intestine comprises a tube formed from 20 cells with microvilli on their apical surface. Furthermore, VHA-6 was clearly found at the junction between the pharynx and the intestine.
Expression is seen in all eight independent lines in the elongating embryo, from comma to 4 fold stage, strongest at 2 fold stage. Probably body wall, possibly hypodermis.
