glo-1::gfp expression was first detected in the daughters of the E blastomere (the E2 stage) that produces the entire intestine. Expression continued in all cells of the embryonic and adult intestines. Expression of GLO-1::GFP was never observed in embryonic or adult stage hypodermal (skin) cells. Thus GLO-1 is localized in structures that are consistent with lysosomes and that GLO-1::GFP is an accurate reporter for GLO-1 localization in intestinal cells.
Expression of GLO-2::GFP was first detected during embryonic development in the four intestinal (E4 stage) precursors, which is prior to the appearance of mature gut granules, and persisted in intestinal cells up to the pretzel stage of embryogenesis.
